Click Read form fields to review Reference: DEMO-2048. Flatten the form, then check that this value remains visible and the field is no longer editable.

A practical guide

Make filled-in answers permanent.

  1. Add the completed PDF form.
  2. Check the values shown for each field.
  3. Run the task and open the flattened copy.

Try this example

A completed 3-page tax form must be sent without changes. Flatten it, and the typed values stay on the pages but the fields are gone.

Before

  • Editable: A123

After

  • Page content: A123
Input and expected output for this task. Illustrative example.

Before you start: This does not protect the file against editing in other tools. Other annotations stay, and XFA forms and signatures are not supported.

What you get

Turn supported existing form fields and their current values into page content. Other annotations remain unchanged; this does not protect the PDF against editing.
