A practical guide

Arrange pages for a folded booklet.

  1. Add a PDF of up to 40 pages.
  2. Choose left or right binding and the paper size.
  3. Run the task and print one test copy on both sides.

Try this example

An 8-page guide becomes two landscape sheets printed on both sides. Fold them once and the pages follow each other in the correct order.

Before you start: Blank pages fill the count up to a multiple of four. Test duplex printing on your printer first; the setup has no creep adjustment.

Limits and important details

Layout: 10 MiB, all source pages up to 200, 40 MiB output; split can produce 400 pages. No unusual page units. Links are kept; comments and form fields are imprinted or removed, as you choose; signed PDFs and XFA forms are refused. Document metadata/bookmarks are not preserved. Split and crop clip visibility, not securely remove hidden content. Marks are not redaction or editable comments: one per run on up to 500 pages, Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese or Korean text up to 300 characters. Forms: 10 MiB, 200 pages, 100 plain single-line text, checkbox, dropdown or radio fields; no XFA, signatures or scripts. Appearances may change. Not PDF sanitization.

Example

For eight pages with left binding, sheet sides contain 8|1, 2|7, 6|3 and 4|5. Print one PDF page per sheet side at actual size; do not enable the printer's booklet mode again. Fold a test copy to check page order and duplex direction.
