How we handle your dataSplit PDF by Bookmarks
Split PDF by bookmarks into one file for each chapter. The parts are saved together in one ZIP archive, up to 40 chapters.
Two real chapter bookmarks start at pages 1 and 4. Splitting by bookmarks should produce two three-page PDFs.

A practical guide
Cut a long file at its chapter bookmarks.
- Add a PDF that has a bookmark outline.
- Choose the option that splits by bookmarks.
- Run the task and open the ZIP to check each chapter.
Try this example
A 90-page manual has five top-level bookmarks. The ZIP holds five PDFs, one for each chapter, and any pages before the first bookmark are kept as front matter.
Before
- Chapter 1
- Chapter 2
After
- Chapter 1.pdf
- Chapter 2.pdf
Before you start: Only simple top-level bookmarks that point to pages in increasing order are used. Other files need manual page ranges. Limit: 10 MiB and 200 pages.
Combine chosen chaptersWhat you get
Split a PDF at its supported top-level bookmarks. The result is a ZIP with one PDF for each chapter; PDFs without supported bookmarks cannot be split this way.
Limits and important details
One PDF. Up to 200 bookmarks, 4 levels deep, titles up to 200 characters. Existing bookmarks are replaced.
Example
Use the six-page sample PDF with top-level chapter bookmarks at pages 1 and 4. Split in bookmark mode, then inspect the ZIP: the chapter PDFs should cover pages 1-3 and 4-6. This follows PDF bookmarks, not headings detected in page text.
